DouP01. Whether you like it or not, English is the closest we have to a global language. Almost any country in Europe I can travel and find enough English speakers. Same for Japan. So compared to those countries I found China more difficult
The suburbs in Detroit are extremely well off. Well populated and beautiful homes. The city has a nice downtown with great restaurants, bars, clubs, office buildings, etc. The outskirts are a war zone.
Apparently if you don’t want to get mugged you just have to drive everywhere. I was told that criminals that “work” in Itaim Bibi (city district where majority of tech companies have offices) knows that if someone has backpack, there is a laptop, phone and possibly tablet and power bank in it. And when you look like foreigner you better take Uber everywhere.
The only critter that bothers me here is the 🦟. That and the ridiculous heat index during the summer are reason enough for me to leave in the near future. Hard to do anything other than swimming outside for a large portion of the year.
You can say Seattle is a shit place to be single due to the Seattle freeze, but Washington state is a pretty damn fine place with the wealthy of outdoor variety, tech careers, and no state taxes. Not too shabby in my opinion.
