Would you date (with intent to marry) someone who makes
1/4 of your salary? (Like a teacher or something)?

Yes but money does matter when you want to have kids and a house in an expensive area

Most guys have their “sparking point”, too, although I would be hard pressed to say all.

You assuming the person making less money is the woman?

Women rarely marry someone who makes less, so the generalization makes sense.

Date me. So I can spend all my money, leave my job, marry you, and then spend yours.

By the way are you gay?

I never said abt dating the same gender. There are good people who are not financially stable.

I dated someone who didn't make as much as me and then she stopped making any money. Then after 2 years she is now making more money than me. To be frank, my relationship is with her soul, I dont think making money made a difference to the person she is. I liked the zeal in her. She can do anything she wants.

Already married to one with 1/5 my total comp.

It’s a marriage and partnership. It’s not a dictatorship. While I do tend to win many financial arguments I try to pick my battles.

I guess when you're making that much, your spouse's income doesn't matter.

What if you were earning around $230k TC and your spouse earned $55k but you still lived in the same high cost of living area. Would that change things?
      Jul 6
    • Amazon ohbother
Even in HCOL areas $285k household income in ~top 5%. I think your hypothetical couple is fine.

It wouldn’t change a thing. Why does money matter? $230k TC is plenty of money... even in HCOL (which I do live in).

      Hey Amazon
If you have such questions in mind. Don't take advice and date. You might possibly regret and disown your decisions that might jeopardize both of your souls.

It could work with both having high TC but will need to pay for private school, maid and nanny, and a tutor to maintain quality of life

Money should not be part of relationship. Life is long and things will happen, you or your partner may lose job and things can change quickly.
