By terrible manager I mean actively fucking things up.
I’ve been in this situation early on in my career - jumped from a great manager with low pay to a shitty manager with much higher pay. Never again.
How much of a comp difference are we talking about

All managers are shitty, just different flavors
Right, but there's some levels of dumpster fire that you really don't want to go near
A bad manager can have a very negative impact on your life and your family. You can always make more money.
True
Also, manager can help you grow. Usually the best option in the mid- and high-term.
I would rather be a manager with a great pay
Look at it this way; a great manager is the type of person who will refer you for opportunities to earn more money this you make more money over the long term. A terrible manager will ensure you get fired or pipped out of the company thus making your overall earnings less.
If the pay is really high, I wouldn’t mind coasting there while ignoring my terrible manager —making some money till I get fired
How would you know the manager behaviour without working with him? If you have already worked with a manager who was terrible but offering you more money then that money is not worth it.
