Wrangler Office Life

I worked for Wrangler as an intern for a semester a while back. It was hopelessly unorganized. The team was all women, many of them older, and they couldn’t lead themselves out of a paper bag. They woukd get up to present their part of their work and it painful to watch.

There was also a huge racial disparity - white people where promoted, black people where kept in the same place (sometimes for decades!) despite doing good and sometimes exceptional work.

There was a “Diversity” talk one day that was lead by 4 black current and a few former employees. These people poured their hearts out, talking about how awful it was to work for this company in the 70s and how it was better now but we had a long way to go - and this 50 or so year old woman has the nerve to stand up and say she “didn’t see color, just people”. Mortifying. Steal the stage from people with something real to say? That’s low.

I understand it is fashion, but it seemed the dumber, whiter, and prettier you where the further along you go up the ladder closer to the (mostly male) upper executives. When I was hired they told me it was a “Good old Boys” club, which seemed about right.

I would never recomend anyone work for this company. You get a lot of access to free clothes but its pretty much all cheap garbage.

I wouldn’t recommend working here unless you fit a specific look.

Am I misunderstanding what this platform is for? I thought it was to discuss the culture inside companies so people can be better informed when they accept a job offer.

@op you *are* misunderstanding what this platform is for. It's for comparing a certain number which you've omitted in your own post.

I’m biracial so whether I like it or not I don’t have the luxury of not seeing color, or not having to deal with it every day.

Someone saying the don’t see color at a talk about diversity is off topic and undermines the learning experience that was supposed to be happening. It’s like saying “Everything you said you went through based off your race is irrelevant because I personally am not racist.” It’s like “Ok?? Not the time.”

Privileged people need to understand they should use their privilege to help disadvantaged people. In this case, white for black.

Sorry, was trolling. Yes, you're right, an important part of blind is letting people get a peek of what the culture inside other companies looks like, especially if they're interested in the same companies. You're doing good.
