X3 vs GLC 300

So we need to get a 2nd car and are torn between the GLC and X3. Leasing for 36 months and 10k miles/year. Budget is restricted to $700/mo max. Note: Pricing is pre-negotiation, but including Microsoft discounts and the salesman “being nice” up front. Got a pretty loaded 2018 GLC 300 4matic quoted at $640/mo with $4k down. Compared to an equally loaded 2019 X3 xDrive30i quoted at $757/mo with $5k down. Benz dealer is eager to unload the ‘18 models so might be able to go even lower. We plan to go back to BMW and try to get down to $700/mo if possible. Is the X3 worth the extra $/mo compared to the GLC?

Those deals are pretty terrible. Check out leasehackr dot com forums. You should be able to get $600/month payments with zero or $1000 down on $55k cars.

^this. You're asking the question on the wrong forum. Leasehackr is the place togo..

entry level luxury cars are a scam

The X3 is not an entry level BMW. X1, yeah, but the new X3 is pretty nice.

X3 is very much entry level.

If you negotiate well, you can get both these suvs for around $40K base. @$700/mo + $4K = $29K.

You don't really need AWD. GLC++;

Yes, I definitely have a ways to go with the negotiation, but back to the root question... Let’s say I can get the GLC for $550/mo and X3 for $600/mo. Same/similar features. Is the X3 worth the extra $?

I think it comes down to personal preference. Not many people here will have driven both. Does Mercedes give free maintenance like BMW? That’s a very nice thing to have.
