I have 2.5 yoe so far and I’m starting Masters this August. Would my 3 yoe be counted after masters? I heard people say that clock resets after school. Is it true? I would be studying NLP and CV at Georgia Tech. Can I aim for 200-250k after Masters? PS: I have 2.5 year of work exp at Oracle hq. This is my first job out of college.
if your job after masters is not super relevant to work you did before they will most likely consider you for entry level. But At amazon, I interviewed for SDE2 right after masters because I had 2.5 yrs experience(not relevant) before masters. They are companies in Bay Area Which will offer 200k TC for new grads if you have competing offers from FAANG (these offers need not be 200k)
How much does fang give
You can search on Blind for new grad faang offers . You will get an idea.

Depends. Was your 2.5 YoE in a foreign country? Are you changing domains? Clock reset happens usually for these scenarios: 1. Domain Transition between Undergrad + Prior Masters Exp and Masters 2. Services to Product companies (especially, for folks from India) 3. Unknown small companies in foriegn countries, harder to evaluate for companies 4. **Applying for new grad roles after you graduate**
No, it’s in USA. So I shouldn’t apply for new grad roles after masters? That was something I was thinking about too
Yes, don't apply for new grad. You'll get under leveled. This only applies if your prior experience matches your Master's degree. Otherwise, hardsell to be an Experienced Hire for NLP/CV. A
