http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/2018/01/22/oxford-university-gives-women-time-pass-exams/ Everyone got extra time not just women. But it was increased because of women ‘after dons ruled that "female candidates might be more likely to be adversely affected by time pressure". ‘
When you start "diversity admissions and quotas" you will eventually have to lower the bar. Just like tech companies lower the bar for diversity hires.
If you actually take the time to read the article is says that all students got more time, not just women. It's in the first paragraph.
Ultimately this is Oxford's brand on the line. When people see this they vote with their feet
Education is a joke in this century.
Wtf difference does it make if all the students get more time? If you're a shitty student and don't know the material, you're gunna fail no matter how much time you get, meanwhile, this will allow those who are smart & intelligent but just a bit slow to get through. I see no issue here.
It lowers the bar. Students who need an hour to solve a problem are not as bright as another student that needs 15 minutes to solve the same problem. That is why you have limited time in interviews and exams.
++ I have a friend with bipolar who gets extra 15 minutes on these exams due to her disability. She is brilliant, it is just her meds actually that make her slower, and outside of the exams she works twice harder than other students. I used to finish my exams twice quicker than the allocated time and other students in my group, but I don’t consider them inferior to me, some are actually more attentive to details and thorough.
Wtf???
By the way, the results were published and they are not great. It slightly improved the results overall and a bit more for women, but not by a lot. So although confidence and stress are important components that impact test results, these are not the only factors. “According to Sarah Hart, a math professor at Birkbeck, University of London, women tend to double-check their answers more than men, which could be one reason they tend to perform better when given more time, she explained to the Sunday Times. Men perform better, too, she said, because while they are more inclined to answer quickly, they also get more wrong when they have less time.” “And while Oxford felt the extended tests "might mitigate ... the gender gap that has arisen in recent years," they also said "the exam should be a demonstration of mathematical understanding and not a time trial."” https://www.bustle.com/p/oxford-is-giving-students-extra-time-for-exams-but-female-students-especially-7976512
Everyone gets extra time. Idk, if I was a student I’d be happy about this.

I’m Sooo Happy about Biden signing TikTok ban bill today!!
Feminist should sue the shit out of oxford, what the fuck are they thinking? Women are inferior? The fuck is wrong with them! I respect all women by the way.
Feminists are ok when someone is trying to fix a social issue. If our society makes girls to feel less confident than boys by the age of 8, then any effort to boost girls confidence is fine. Oxford is not suggesting that women are biologically inferior to men, their hypothesis is that women are being raised questioning their abilities, which results in more stress during the exam. The exam is supposed to test math abilities, not the level of anxiety, therefore goes extra 15 minute increase for all students in an attempt to alleviate the stress factor. Whether this is true or not, we’ll see. It might also be no longer relevant in the next generation.
Lol sure We can apply that logic every where for any one I feel inadequate give me leverage
