Yelp: $7500/month + $1500/month housing Amazon: $7500/month + corporate housing Yelp is in SF, Amazon in Seattle. Which company is more prestigious/has a better engineering culture?
Duh amazon.
Why?
Yelp. I interned at amazon and met a lot of interns there. The experience was really bad and my team was a mess. No onboarding processes, mentor had no time to help, everyone’s tryna get their next promotion so no one has time to coach you. I had only 3 one on ones with my mentor in 12 weeks. Granted I got a return offer and it’s not that hard if you complete your project. You’ll learn way more at yelp I think
Amazon duh +2.
My internship at Amazon was amazing. Had access to multiple senior engineers and a PE. Learned a lot from all of them. Weekly 1:1 with my manager and my mentor was always there to help me. I had a really interesting project that had actual impact as well. Amazon is a massive company, so most people will have varying experiences.
Amazon obviously
Yelp housing is taxed. Ask for more
I don’t think I can, but regardless which would you choose? I think my project at yelp would be working on the data pipeline or search infrastructure, unsure about amazon team
Amazon
Amazon
$5,000 a month cause taxes are instantly siphoned.
