I recently got an offer to work full-time at a tech staffing agency. I'll be an in-house software developer. Them being a staffing agency, I will work on the projects that they're developing for other companies. I'm excited about the projects they're working on, I like the employees (my future co-workers), and I don't dislike the compensation. I'm a new grad. For a person who dreamt of starting their profession at the dreamy places like Google, Facebook, Apple, LinkedIn etc, I find myself being a little anxious about the staffing job. How was your experience when you started working at a place that wasn't necessarily on your top list? Do you have any advice for me? Thanks.
TC? What percentage the staffing company will take? How's the health insurance?
$85k. I get all of it. Health insurance seems solid enough for now.
Seems good. Location?
Don’t work at Indeed.
Then I'm glad it's not Indeed. But what makes you say that?
Sounds like you will be a contractor. Review how the company treats contractors. Difference between their FTE & Contractors can be night & day.
It's a full time in-house salaried position.
How long is the contract?
It's a full-time salaried position. There's no bond or minimum contract length
Dude I started as a new grad with TC 70k after masters.
I'm sorry if I came off like one of those, "I want to make an impact" people. I'm fine with the TC. It's just that I'll be at a staffing agency working on some other company's projects. I honestly don't know the root cause of my anxiety about the job. I'm happy that I found a job though.
Staffing agencies can either be great and give you a breadth of exposure in a short amount of time, or suck the life out of you with poor WLB and unrealistic expectations. Since the TC is good, why don't you give it a shot and leave if you don't like it?
Don't! I haven't even read your comment. I just read the title.
247?
Why did you give up FANNG?
No, not 247. I'm assuming you mean the tech staffing agency. I didn't give up FAANG. I couldn't land a job there. However, I have received an invitation for a phone interview at Apple for a UI Engineer role. But the recruiter hasn't replied to my email about confirming a time for the interview.
