I need some help in my improvement plan. I am currently working as a Jr SWE but I want to transition to the bay area. I am actively trying to better myself for interviews. I have CTCI as well as leetcode premium. I am coding every day although it is discouraging since I am struggling with mediums. Can someone please suggest a better way to learn these problems instead of just memorizing patterns? I made it to the Final Round at Amazon but failed my questions and I've been using that as fuel since. Any help is much appreciated!
Struggling with mediums is OK. Thats what they are supposed to be: medium challenges so you can struggle and learn from them, but not too much so you get blocked. If you get stuck on a problem, try a slightly different one, or go read on the data structure related to the problem, or do any other similar side quest. Bumping your head against the wall won't help, it will only hurt your motivation. Try to get a study buddy so you guys can discuss with each other when you're struggling. Best of luck!
Thank you!
Take a full algorithms class from a university. Something that covers dynamic programming, greedy algorithms, and graphs
And not a crappy 4 week course from coursera

Are you actually learning or just memorizing? Focus on learning and understanding the concept behind the answer as that will get you way further than rote memorization
Sorry I wasn’t clear. I am focused on learning the problems and then trying to apply that knowledge to future problems. I’m looking for better ways to learn how to tackle these problems.
