I had a “prep call” with a hiring manager before I am to schedule my onsite. I have now done a recruiter call, a hiring manager call where I discussed my background and a portfolio project, then followed up with the recruiter who says the hiring manager wants me to move forward but first he wants to do a prep call with me. This call he essentially gives me feedback on my previous presentation. Is this prep call normal? The recruiter said that after this prep call she’s going to circle back and I can decide if I want to do the onsite or not. What? YOE: 7 TC: 105k
There is very little chance any company would call you onsite with just two phone screens with the recruiter. I'm pretty sure your last phone call was a real interview. Hope you make it to the next round. Good luck!
Amazon flew me out for an on-site with no phone screen. Depends on how fast they want to move.
You had a background review done before you received a job offer? That whole situation you described sounds weird. It should be just like any other tech company
So I did a recruiter call, a hiring manager call where I discussed my background and a portfolio project, then followed up with the recruiter who says the hiring manager wants me to move forward but first he wants to do a prep call with me. This call he essentially gives me feedback on my previous presentation and the. The recruiter said afterwards I can “decide whether or not I want to do the onsite”
Is this for an engineering role? Maybe they are really wanting you to join?
That sounded like a real phone screen and not a 'prep call'. Weird.
Edited for accuracy.
