I have been reached out to for a backend role at amazon. i have about 2 YEO. they want to fast track the process and get moving right away. the problem for me is that i have been working mostly in nodejs and am rusty on my java/c++ for interviews. im thinking that i need to take 2-3 days and cram java/c++ and get ramped back up, take the interview in javascript(i hear thats frowned upon), or ask for a delay due to sufficient prep. any advice? does a bad performance now due to insufficient prep affect my chances in a future interview in like a ~year note: i love my job now.
Your recruiter should emphasize that rescheduling phone screen or on-site is typically no problem. We’re not looking for any specific language, so I wouldn’t worry about cramming C++. Java or python is typically fine. Again: it’s no big deal to reschedule. Relax and work with your recruiter on it.
Ofcourse if you aren't prepared well, it's not going to go well right now. But the result of this interview shouldn't affect the future ones.
Is that more of a hunch or based on experience?
