ask for L4 instead of L5

i got 160 / 320/4 / 30 offer at google. ict 4 at apple with 6yoe is it worth asking for L4? will that be easier to get promo after 2-3 years?

    For same pay, prefer higher level. For same level, prefer higher pay.

    Lower level makes sense only if pay is significantly higher. 2-3 year timeframe is not short. This will delay L5 to L6 by 2-3 years too. This is basic integral. In long term, you will lose money if you start at lower band.

    With L5, you will be getting larger bonuses, stock refresh, and yearly raises.

    With L4, it doesn't matter if you're coming in at the top end. The promo committee only looks at your perf reviews and contributions in deciding if you should move up a level.
