I am currently a python programmer (6yoe, TC 275k) and I want to switch to a data science/ML role, ideally in bioinformatics. There are quite a few websites offering courses. My question is, which of these is the best - both in terms of learning the necessary skills, and reputable among employers (if any)? Do any of their certificates/credentials carry weight with employers? Udacity is by far the most expensive, do employers actually respect their nanodegrees? I am going to study full time for 2-3 months so neither time nor cost are important factors. The most important thing to me is to learn the skills and get a REAL data science job (not building an ETL pipeline or other infrastructure).
Dataquest: https://www.dataquest.io/ Better for Python than Datacamp
Also, nobody cares about these certificates. It's all about your skills and your portfolio
Step 1 is to get the f out of that shithole
If you really enjoy programming, then I’m not sure you will enjoy true data science position.
I don't, that's why I want to do data science
