hi guys.. please give some advice, no trolling teasing please... i sold my used car (NYC) with 21100usd. 1. i went to TDbank with buyer together and checked he made certified check in front of me. 2. i reassured to TDbank teller that this certified check can not be bounced back. 3. i deposited to my santander bank last Thursday, and it was all cleared at the early morning of Last Saturday. 4. i gave him my signed title, key, and bill of sales. but forgot to ask him to give me a copy. He gave me back my plate. Is there any possibility that this certified check bounced back...? also, do i need to ask him to provide me a copy of signed title and signed bill of sales? i sold this in Nyc... please let me know. Any advice will be much appreciated guys...
If the check was made in front of you, then very unlikely it will bounce. Otherwise cashiers check fraud is quite prevalent.
Thanks for the comment!! So does it mean that this real certified check has no way to be bounced back?
Pretty much. Unless somehow the bank employee was in on the scam. Certified check scams rarely happen in person though.

Confused... so it means im ok?
If you saw the teller physically create the check, then it’s legit. It won’t bounce.
Thanks so much. This makes me relieved..
You might want to read about Hakan Yalincak. You will get a primer on check fraud and subsequent legislation passed to protect free roaming citizens.
I hope you make a new profile before applying for jobs because your common sense is lacking.. it may affect your TC. Then again paranoia is a good trait for a SWE. There are alot of fake cashiers check scams but they don't originate at the bank branch. Or could be he took you to a fake TD branch as part of a huge con to get your car? ?
I waa a bit harsh apparently they can still cancel or stop payment on a cashiers check within 1 day so it's not exactly like cash.. But assuming u have their info address etc it seems unlikely to be a scam for 20k.
a certified check can bounce if the owner reports it as lost/stolen. he will have the receipt/carbon copy to prove he's the owner. Does it happen? yes. Will it happen to you? Doubt it....doesnt happen to often
Deposited checks never clear in two days. Instead by law your bank has to make the money available to you in a few days. The clearing process takes weeks. Failing to get a copy of sales contract was really bad. If he fails to retiltle and register in his name then if car is involved in an accident you are so screwed. Next time for $2000 you take cash, and a signed sales agreement and go to the dmv within him to see that he properly registers the car.
dafuq u asking, u already have the money and u wondering if it can still bounce?
Hi.. so money was cleared but worrying about bounced back. I have been herd forfeited(fake) certified check can be bounced after few days of clear. But wonder for my case..
ah should be fine if u watched the teller make the check I don’t think it can actually bounce after it clears. clearing is an industry term meaning it’s done, as in you can cash it out
