my career at msft had its highs and lows, i got 2 promotions in 8 years and my final year i was rated as underperforming (bottom of forced bell curve per my manager). i got tired of the constant reorgs and left msft. i spent the next 5 years at various other companies. now ive matured in my role and performance and want to come back to msft. even did a couple of loops which i felt went fantastically but was shocked to learn thr teams wouldnt move ahead with an offer. now im very confused if perhaps my final performance review at msft may be a factor for these rejections? do managers look into performance history? (left at 61 and coming back for 63)
Of course they do. What was the level you left at and what level are you interviewing for? And obligatory TC?
Left at 61 and coming back for 63
They cannot look into past performance reviews. However, nowadays, many tech companies are looking to hire younger workforce just because younger workforce tend to learn things quickly and are passionate and willing to do more work in order to add experience to their belts. Their demand for pay is also very less. So, all these things play a factor into the decision making.
You were at MSFT for 8 years and you left at L61?

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
