how is it to work for confluent ? hos is the growth, given its already value at 2.5B is there more runway? lot of company commercialize open source in past did not have great valuation in longer run - cloudera/ horton works
Except that MongoDB, and Elasticsearch are couple of examples that have the same business model and have reached $6-8B valuation.

You are right Amazon. Though they are still making big losses, and it's been 10 years since Mongo DB started. Not sure about Elastic.
You are correct. My rule of thumb - do not work for a 'build open source and hope to get paid for support' model. It will take years to be profitable as support cost is too high (as we all have seen on Blind). Margins are too low so you have to have massive scale to build a viable business.
Word. Also, see ride-sharing stocks. More better, no?
