do you think leetcode is overrated? why and why not?
What part is overrated?
The ability to distill problems into algorithmic constructs is still very much underrated.
I feel it is underrated.
This shit has been spoiled by ppl who simply memorize 2-3 solutions and ask the same question during interviews. If u ask the interviewer back to write the code then 90% of them will fail.
There is so much more to software engineering that leetcode doesn’t test
Leetcode interviews are partially responsible for companies failing or not making enough profits. Hiring leetcoders usually leads to bad engineers, who deliver buggy projects or design without thinking about extensibility thus limiting the growth of the project. So when the business teams come with amazing ideas, these leetcoders have no idea how to implement it. No new features, improvements and buggy/laggy experience from a company for a long time leads to lost trust and ultimately the company going down. Examples, -Several times I have cancelled my Uber/Lyft due to bugs with fare and cab booking. -I don't use Ok Google/Alexa much due to unsatisfactory answers it gives. -Cortana was an outright failure due to how incompetent it was. -I don't use Airbnb anymore due to its buggy map on Android and Desktop. -I like Netflix's video watching experience better than Amazon's Prime Video
