i recently had an interview with facebook. i had 2 pure coding, 1 behavioral and a coding, and 2 system design rounds. The last design round interviewe had 2 people, 1 of them shadowing. i didnt see the main interviewer take a lot of notes. was that a dummy training round? ive heard my friends who interviewed there say that usually they dont evaluate that round, its only for training the shadower. is that true? my recruiter didnt mention anything of that sort. can folks from fb please comment?
Two interviewers usually means one of the two of them is being trained, but that doesn't necessarily mean the interview doesn't count.
The recruiter told me that the interview didn’t count. So I bombed it cause my brain was jelly by then
There are no dummy interviews. Some interviewers just don’t take a lot of notes.
All these rounds were just a simulation
In what world does a dummy interview make sense? You think if a candidate shows incompetence or great competence during an interview, they would just ignore it because it "didn't count"?
Don't make any assumption on whether those rounds count or not. It is up to the discretion of the interviewers during debrief. If the interviewer was being trained, they did a poor job interviewing, the round may be omitted. But the interviewer did a good job and they still were able to get signals it may be considered. Don't make any assumptions.
How many yoe do you have? Is this target E5 since 2 system design?
I had the same experience (E5 role). The recruiter told me one of the system design rounds (which had 2 interviewers) does not count and I didn't do well in the one that counts, lol!
yes, actually all of your rounds were dummy rounds because you were in them.
