What have people heard and think, particularly in the Vancouver office/user research team? I image you wouldn't stay too long, but if you're looking to transition to blizzard or even FB after would it be a good career move? Culturally though looking at their glassdoor reviews and... opinion from gamers it doesn't sound too positive. let's not talk about ME3 or... andromeda... :( though I guess you can't always get what you want in jobs, haha
They pay shit
I worked with someone who formerly worked at EA - he said that the company didn’t treat employees well at all and overworked them. He didn’t give specifics other than that, but I have a lot of respect for this guy’s opinion, so take that info for what it’s worth
Thanks so much! That's pretty much the idea I'm getting from all those reviews.... Did he mention how he felt about his career growth and learning opportunities there? Also if you don't mind me asking what industry/type of company did your friend end up at afterwards?
He works for buzzfeed now - hope that’s not giving too much info away lol. He was a backend dev when I worked with him and he taught me a ton of stuff. We worked together at a startup that was much more conscious of the way they treated their employees
My significant other works in the gaming industry and has a ton of colleagues who used to work at EA (eng, devops, CS, marketing-worked a ton for not much money) and just realize: 1) gaming industry doesn't really pay that well compared to other tech cos 2) everyone thinks they'll be working on the best games, not true.
Yay. Totally turned around after new CEO 5 years ago. Only games company to survive and thrive aside from Rockstar. The pay is garbage but if you work at HQ its a dream come true.
