#facebook #internship salary question

Just got a verbal internship offer from Facebook for the summer for a non cs job. Although the only issue is that the pay is less then what I expected and what I currently make as an intern. Currently I get paid way more as I’m hourly based. I have a ton of experience and should be paid more. I have not gotten the offer but really want to negotiate. Should I do this and how so? Has anyone done this before?

You'll never negotiate internship salaries with Facebook lmao. Why not just do part time work outside of the internship if you really need that much dough

Part time work? Like what? Not sure if you’re joking I think I should be paid more. It’s not even near average ( I’m guessing average is influenced by CS intern salary). I am also engineering but not CS ... why don’t you think I can negotiate??

Big company internship salaries are usually fixed. You can always ask, no harm in that if you do it politely, but I'm willing to bet like a thousand big macs you won't see a base rate raise unless there's something they previously overlooked (eg you have a master's they weren't aware of or something)

Your salary as an intern does not matter... seriously do you really think an extra $1-2k at the end of the summer will make a difference? Also if you try to negotiate an intern salary you will get laughed at. As an intern you have 0 negotiating power because you have 0 differentiation from the thousands of other college applicants.
