feel like I’m not learning anything

I started a job at a business unit within dell in a low COL area at 99k first year TC (including 6k signing) as a new grad after my undergrad. I like the teammates and all but the work isn’t satisfying enough for me to feel like going to office. Most sprints, I’m done with the tasks within first half and then literally have to browse reddit and learn random stuff until the sprint is over. I told my manager this in one on one and she said I would get more challenging work eventually. But even the senior engineers in the team are merely fixing minor issues or adding stuff to existing APIs. I feel like all my knowledge and experience is just being wasted by being at this place and I’ll end up losing my knowledge and forgetting all the algorithms and design patterns I learned in college. As it is only my second month at the job, is switching to a better company worth at this point or should I wait till an year or so?

I think for a year or less this is ok but any longer is not good for the career. The question is how to positivelynusebthet time? Can you start a side business, gym, learn something new? Others might kill for the free time

Hang in there, Im sure there is something you can learn there. I mean 2 months barely gives you time to settle in. Free time is gold, employ it wisely. Use it to expand your skills, study for a cert for example or if you feel like you can do more dont wait for people to give you more challenging work. Keep your ears open and find a problem you can work on in your free time. If you are able to come up with a solution and present that to your manager, maybe she will be more inclined to give you more challenging stuff to do. Build up your credibility and stand out. Give it 6 months to 1 year, strive to achieve something. It will also be easier for you to land better jobs if you are able to demonstrate something unique that you have accomplished.

Do these two things in the second week of sprint, instead of slacking. 1. Learn system design 2. Leetcode That way you will be ready when you have to change jobs for higher TC.
