i just got feedback from fb on-site interviews. the recruiter said i did all well except one system design in which the interviewer was disappointed that i did not mention route-robin and hashing. he said there is interest from one specific team and asked me to go on-site doing system design with that team. advices??? i was nervous during the system design interview. i am looking for e6 level.
Go for onsite! Never give up
Might as well try it, but I suggest calling it round robin rather than route robin.
Prep hard for system design. Facebook has a sample system design session ask your recruiter for it. Your overall feedback seems positive but looks like they want a few more data points.
Why would you give up at this point? You are just one interview away
i will definitely do it , i feel pressure when doing system design. tips to do well on system design?
What helped me in general was trying to solve a problem myself(designing an AWS service or some question from grokking) and comparing the solution and see what i missed. One major problem i had was missing out on trivial things like not bringing up caching etc. due to pressure, and practicing on a white board helped a bit. Were you asked grokking kind questions or something bit more specific which requires getting into the details more?
Can anyone point me to the sample system design session that Facebook has (as suggested above) ?
Dont have any suggestions. But may i know the level u interviewed for?
e6 - just modified my post
