For those who got relocation as part of your offer, did you use the third party or cash out? Cash out value is $10,500 for me less taxes. Not sure which option has the best value.
Depends on the individual, are you a bachelor? Do you have a lease agreement currently? What will be the penalty to break it? Do you have too much stuff to move? Are you a new grad and all you need is a flight ticket? Just remember, withholding on relocation is like a bonus and not the actual tax. It counts as your normal income and will be taxed accordingly, so you might get a tax refund or pay more depending on your bracket.
New grad and don't need that much stuff, for furniture I can always buy new stuff when I get there. And that's good to know yeah it said it was paid out with my first paycheck. Coming from Arizona and looking forward to CA taxes😅
Haha.. Stay for a while in CA. If you like it then continue, otherwise transfer to another office.
How many points do one get for the third party one? And generally what all is covered there apart from flights, temporary accommodation and moving cost?
I'm not sure yet what package I would want to do but going through the checklist I had like 20 points, not sure how that translates to monetary value. And yeah basic stuff like that, also paying for a trip for my family to come visit with rental car and hotel
20 points with family sounds too low. I saw another post where someone got 40 points but it might be varying.
Just received my relocation package and got 78 points as an L5. Cash out value is $39k. My wife and I don’t have a lot of stuff: bedroom furniture, couch, and clothes/personal items. Thinking about renting a Uhaul with a trailer to pull my wife’s car and shipping mine. Don’t need much else and will just pocket the rest.
I sold everything and took the cash out. Bought new stuff when I moved. Came out even. Granted that my old stuff was cheap from Ikea.
same here. I threw away everything I had and bought brand new stuff with relocation money.
