got fired, what should i do?

I got fired from one of the big tech at a business strategy role. Now in career gap. How can I handle “why did you leave the firm? ” “why you are hot in employment status?” this kind of questions and background check (dont think ex-boss would say good stuff)

References may not get called and don’t give your ex-boss as a reference. Getting fired does not come up in a background check. The only time I think a job application asks if you got fired is if you’re applying for a role that requires clearance. Otherwise it doesn’t even come up and no one asks.

A blank box in the application: fill in your ex line manager’s contact info 😂

Yeah you could just form an LLC and say that you left to pursue that but that it didn’t work out.

wAMB it's simple. Just say "it was not a fit so I decided to leave". How was it not a fit ? Make some shit up about that but present the reason in a way that makes you look justified. "It wasn't a business strategy role. It was actually more like a sales role and that's not my forte". Be prepared to elaborate though if they ask more questions. Was your employer Facebook ? Business Strategy is nebulous and hard, much more so than engineering. I would not last a day in a Business Strategy role. You must be a very intelligent person OP to choose Business Strategy as a career. The plus for you is that you have a niche specialization so you won't face the outrageous competition which SWEs face in their Interviews. The minus of course is that there are a lot fewer business strategy jobs out there. You can overcome this and remain in the USA ! You would not have been hired into a major tech company in that role in the first place if you weren't highly qualified !

PS OP you have 2 posts on this topic. You should probably delete the other one.
