At the end of 30 days I would like to know every team members name, have a dev env setup, be able to draw a system diagram for the project we’re responsible for, have fixed a couple of issues, identify an area that you could add a lot of vaule to and understand the deploy/monitoring story.
Know who you work with, meet your sister teams, understand the org and it’s structure, understand their charter...
first 30 days is the time you need to establish dominance. i'd recommend belittling the guys and chatting up the girls. make bold recommendations for how things should change moving forward, and say things like "at my last company we did things this way". also make sure to complain about the systems and hardware.
That's how you make Director in a month and VP a few weeks after.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
I would say just chill and let the work come to you, if it doesnt at first I normally just head home early since it wont last
