I've never had problems asking for a month. My next job i asked for 2 weeks and a month.
I have asked for 2.5 months and they were ok.
Wow 2.5 months! Which company ?
I had 1.5 months off before I started at Amazon.
I think 2 months is the sweet spot. Anything longer and you *might risk* (as clearly stated above by a different person it can be longer, thus proving me wrong) your offer getting rescinded. I've also not seen people having issues asking for two months.
I’ve done 2 months
I asked for 3 months from every company I got an offer from, and they were fine with it. You know what they say: if they really 💓 you, they'll wait and walk a thousand miles or whatnot.
I have seen ~2 months for new hires for all of these reasons: visa, moving, planned vacation, collect large stock payment and probably more I can’t recall. Reasons I would probably not use: rehab, working on a conspiracy theory project, fight club camp, upcoming court date, becoming Amish, etc.
A software engineer at one of my previous company gave a 3 month notice. He was going to msft and they were willing to wait.
Depends on how time sensitive the move is. 2 weeks up to 2 months. If I'm having to move to a new state, always a month, with signing bonus up front. So I can plan my move properly.
I’ve got 3 months notice in my contract!!!
Usually 2 weeks but depending on your position some are a bit more flexible. For example if you are VP then obviously more than 2 weeks makes sense
2 extra weeks?
Depends on your position and how flexible the new company is
