i have no boss

this has been the situation for years now. at first i thought it was a good thing since managers can be really annoying but now i'm starting to think i may be at a disadvantage regarding any career progression. but then again some employees with managers never progress internally either. wondering what others think of this situation and if this is a good thing or bad

You don't report to anyone?

Even when I have supervisors that I admire and take an interest in my career, I always take development and progression as my responsibility. They can assist and open doors but the more you can do to lead and direct your development, the better off you’ll be
