Purchased one and am loving it so far. Interested what little quirks everyone else has noticed that I may not be aware of. Good and bad.

Pros:

- Flashing green banner in-call is now sequestered to the upper left corner behind the clock. This allows me to freely snap-to-top by pressing high center while browsing. On other models, the banner is active across the entire top edge, and would simply switch you back to the call screen.

- Seems that control center lets me customize and add as many switches as I’d like. (Is this now on all latest-generation iPhones?)

- OLED display outperforms iPhone LED backlit screens in terms of brightness. Excellent outdoors.

Neutral / Just Plain Weird:

- Snapchat’s viewfinder screen now freezes when in the app switcher. It stayed live (serving no purpose, but novel nonetheless) on my 6S, even when partially hidden behind other apps.

Cons:

- Rounded edges of the screen sometimes obscure half of the “X” to close ads when placed in a corner. Apps aren’t always built around the top indention in the screen. WiPry, for example, has critical text obscured because of this.

- No battery percentage, not even an overlay on the icon, at first glance. Requires swipe down.

- Charging dreadfully slow, even with iPad charger. Considering USB-C but not sure if it will be any better.

- App switcher makes you target a tiny (X) to close. Could have easily been flick-up-to-kill. And only works half the time. Occasionally will simply exit the app launcher instead, even when you’re dead on target.

No headphone jack, make it a useless shiny toy. No idea why anyone would pay money for this POS.

Forced Obsolescence as product strategy... What happened to Revolution over evolution & Innovation over iteration, as well as Privacy above all else?!

No headphone jack is obvious consumer bilking. Not to mention A company with $300B in cash has more society responsibility to drive innovation instead of regulating it from a valve

Just a thought from someone with a high school education:

I’d think most consumers would be more accepting of the idea that batteries lose capacity over time, instead of rumors about engineered performance throttling were true all along.

I would have to agree. I think people expect their battery performance to go down over time, just not purposefully aided from a company manipulating the consumer purchase/product experience that has $300 BILLION in cash reserves to actually put toward r&d and improve performer and strategy overall.

      Greed consumes.

Regarding flick to kill apps, once you have the red x in the corner you can actually flick up to kill them, you don’t have to actually tap the red x.

    Pros:
    blazing fast
    Awesome screen
    Amazing cam
Bluetooth chip seems solid compared to my old 6 which dropped signal constantly
Multitask UI is WAY faster/easier than double home click
Long ass battery life ~50% by end of day using it mostly for social media/price checking

    Cons
    T H I C C
    heavy
    No aux jack. Dongle sucks
Face ID is shit in any situation other than when upright. (In bed/leaning head on something)

Slow charging, no way to silent type using SwiftKey, wordflow doesn't work at all, if you miss your face, you have to type in code vs retry like old touch system. oled screen is great for Netflix, but it was easier to read text in mail on my 7plus. Not a fan of having to hold and swipe up to multitask, then hold down screen, then swipe to kill. And the app store experience to install forcing use of the button on the side. Want to hand fun? Hand that to someone and watch them try to figure out how to click that tiny little bar that doesn't do anything.
Definitely faster with downloads, pictures look great. Much easier to use one handed than 7plus.

Try swiping straight from left to right on the bottom of the screen for multitasking. Don't manually kill apps. It's worse for your battery life and app state.

I traveled with it for 10 days and returned it. I got it before the trip since I liked the idea of a new camera that’d take good pictures.
    - Screen is smaller than the plus and even though marginally so it was hard for me to give up the space.
    - Battery didn’t last full day and it was def slow to charge
    - UI is clearly overloaded - that different things roll down when you swipe down from the left of the notch vs the right is ridiculous

All my past five phones are iPhones but I went back to the 6S Plus that I had and I’m happy enough. The X was clearly not worth the 1k, let alone the higher price for 256g.

Some really good points here. I used to have a 6S Plus as a field technician. A charge would last all day. Phone calls, app-intensive dispatching, and navigation.

The usb c charger allows you fast charging. It charges way faster. Mine gets done in an hour. However shame that they don’t provide the fast charger with the phone!

Yeah but midday charging when I’ve got 30 minutes to spare, gotta make it count lol

The highest amp car chargers I could find were 3.0A per port, regardless of total output.

Why do you charge midday? I only charged once a day (that means leaving the house in the morning full and not needing to charge until the next morning at work).

I think I just use mine more. Lots of call time on speakerphone, I don’t consciously turn the screen off each time I activate speaker.

I’ll usually charge mine if I see it get below half. This is to have some remaining at the end of the day as a pad. I never wait for a complete discharge. But I do run the gas in my car down to where it says “Low” and stops displaying a DTE before I refill.

      I’m a mixed bag.

I’d limit my dialing back as far as VoLTE goes. On Verizon, no automatic cellular data during calls without it.

iPhone 6 would be my limit 😉
