Thinking about making a permanent move back to India. What would be the avg total compensation in a city like Bangalore for 7 years experience (+masters in us)?

50 lpa will definitely afford you all of that (unless you want to buy an independent house cash down)

In bangalore ? I doubt even with emi. I heard school fees nowadays is 1-2 lakhs per annum .. wtf !! I remember paying that much during my bachelors

Yes you heard that right. Education is getting expensive. But 50 lpa still places you in the among the best in the country financially.

I don't know when you completed your bachelors and from what college, but a good college now means you are looking at 1lac per semester fees.

Forget the cheaper days. The last time I visited India, I had 4 golgappe for Rs 20, spent Rs 300 at a cafe for evening snacks and coffee, and Rs 1.5k for a lunch at a fine dining.

Exactly launde... with shelling thAt much on food and Bacha log fees , take care of parents and now house I feel take home income should be 50 lpa post taxes . That’s 4 lacs per month .. home interest is 9 % .. so maybe u can save 50 k RS with these expenses .. but again for me to be really living great lifestyle one needs household income > 75 lpa

Haa bhai. Wahi to, so you do live a good lifestyle (good home, good school education etc) and still manage to save 50k per month. I think that's good.

I wasn't looking at Cisco India specifically, although that might be a good data point as well.

Depends. If you can get in as L5, $100k+ is possible (in the right company). For L4/SDEII, $60-80K is possible. Maybe even higher. If I were you, I would aim for $65-70k at least.
