laid off - seeking help

i was laid off by a startup company. I am on an H1B visa.

I have read about it and found that I can look for jobs with in 60 days.

I was making over 120K.

I just got an offer for 80k with an established company. Should I get that offer and have my H1B transferred asap or should I wait for a better opp. I am still interviewing with other companies.
50 days to go.

Congratulations on the new gig. Start the transfer process ASAP. It will probably take at least a month to just receive the notice considering the pace at which most attorneys work.

Continue interviewing in parallel for better TC. Eventually choose what's best for you. Don't think about the companies.

Thank you for the advice. If i transfer multiple times in a small period, will it be a problem in the future?

I took a pay cut when I was fired years ago and had to rush to get my h1b transferred, legal status is more important than money. You can take your time interviewing while on a job.

I stayed in that new job for less than a year. It doesn't matter how many times you transfer your h1 as long as they are all same fields. The only pitfall I can think of is you might need to ask all of them for experience letter when applying for green card .

Also, during h1b transfer, will the paycut of 40K or more be suspicious?

As long as it stays above the minimal salary. The lawyer should know better.

Take the offer. Prepare hard and target a much higher comp in 6-8 month period. Identify what skills you need to make it happen and acquire them. Then leave within the year.

Does it sound like the new company knows your situation and lowball you?

Yes. They knew my situation. The company that laid off was known in the market. They had laid off many other teams too.

It's really sad a company would lowball to take advantage of the situation...

Yeah like everyone else said here, take it first and then look for another with better pay
