Any Indians or non-whites here who live in LaMorinda area? How’s your experience been? Do you and/or your kids feel isolated from rest of the community?

We’re indians and are looking at houses in the area. love the houses, school ratings, etc. Just a bit apprehensive about moving to an area where we barely saw any browns.

Also if look carefully inside of their Teslas, you’ll see the leather seats. They... brown 😱

I’m from lamorinda (I’m mostly white). They are insular white bedroom communities. You’ll do fine if you can play in that culture and conform. You might thrive if you are the kind of person that can get really into swim team and like to drive an SUV around with an oversized wooden fin on it. If you need to be around “your own people” to be comfortable, you should live elsewhere.

Why your people in quotes as if u think it's a bad thing? I ask cuz u seem to be guilty of exact same thing.

I dunno, to show that the reality is not feeling around your people is mostly a mental construct?

Lamorinda is geographically pretty, have some of the best schools in US, good location for commuting to SF, and houses are beautiful too. But haven't seen many brown ppl there.

If you're looking for somewhere in the area with similarly good schools and a bit more of an Indian population, try San Ramon or Pleasanton. You won't see blatant racism in Lamorinda but you may feel like an "other" if you're not a white Christian, just speaking from experience.
