Does LinkedIn always do general hiring and then team matching? How can I apply for a specific team?

I did a specific team, screening is general, then all team interviews, matching becomes obvious unlike Google.

Same for me. Midway during the phone interviews one of the managers got interested in my profile, I liked the team too. Cleared the onsite and then got it. Beware though the entire process can be slow. Plan accordingly.

Team matching also depends on open headcount. You can ask but if the team has no open headcount tough luck

It depends on the role. Most technical roles are that way, but not all.
You will need to ask after HC

Kinda I think recruiters usually work with orgs/teams but you can ask them for a specific team you’re interested in
