losing it

I’ve been applying for jobs for 9 months now. being unemployed is probably the worst. I am lucky that I can stay with my parents. but I feel like a failure and I am losing it. Would anyone know any contracting roles or startups hiring for Analyst positions? please any help would be valuable. I am okay with relocating from bay area too. yoe: roughly 2 (diverse exp) Good at SQL and Python.

Education and background? Visa issues?

Bachelors -CS grad, did business analysis/consulting for a little bit. No visa issues.

If your background is in CS, why are you looking for Analyst positions? Why not improve your data structures/algorithms knowledge and solve problems on Leetcode, then apply to SWE roles with huge compensations? Just curious

Register on dice and monster. You will be flooded with emails for contractor roles

There are tons of jobs with sql/python skill set. Focus on tuning your resume (hire a professional reviewer if needed) and work on getting referrals. Mock interviews with analyst/DS folks on blind can also be helpful.

I’ve revised my resume a ton. Now I think it’s good. I received help from one analyst and two PMs that mentioned it’s good. Yes, I will start to do mock interviews and work on getting referrals. Thank you.

With CS degree you should have zero problems. And also should pursue Eng role.

It’s difficult if I didn’t do a SE role or SE internship.

Trust me, the TC is much better. Can you try something more towards the backend of analytics, such as data eng / ml eng.

May be try different locations. Change your LinkedIn location to some place like NYC or San Fran. You’ll show up in more searches and will increase your chances. Of course you have to be willing to relocate.

Yes, I’ll give that a try.
