Either program will help you. Normally full time programs are more prestigious though and have more job opportunities

Part of the point of an MBA is the people you meet. Both Wharton and Haas as excellent programs. Will you get the full networking benefits doing an EMBA?

Shell sweetbruh Aug 17, 2019

This. If you’re working full time you won’t be able to go to all of the events that full time get to. Part time is great if your work is paying for it and it’s more of a checkbox. Full value the full time takes it every time

Its Berkeley. There is an E after K. Is that how you spelled it in your essays?

I got 730 on my gmat and got accepted to 2 top schools, so I’d appreciate advice in regards to my career, not the judgement of my post 😖

Amazon CeoExtra Aug 17, 2019

Wow 730 is awesome. You’re supposed to be smart. How did you lose your job? Also with that level of smartness you probably should know better than any stranger here (with limited info) which MBA option would work better for you.

Can't even spell berkeley smh

Very thoughtful advice!

Wharton for Wall St and Berkeley for Silicon Valley.

Shell sweetbruh Aug 17, 2019

Disagree with this. Plenty of finance firms hiring from top colleges on the west coast and also plenty of cash floating around in Cali for those tech startups that has to have someone writing those checks

Oracle fx1 Aug 17, 2019

Sure - it's a guideline, not a law! People get hired quickly from San Jose State University in Silicon Valley, but tech companies don't reach out to Temple University like crazy.

That you so much for your support!

Hope they let you do your knitting projects during classes

Wharton vs Berkeley matter less than part-time vs full-time in your case. Are you ok being without a job for a couple of years, and spending 160K?

BlackRock goethe Aug 17, 2019

OP - you should compare recent placement trends at both schools. As far as I know and have seen, wharton is a feeder program into private equity, so am guessing those interested in fintech product is a minority there

F5 Networks bhai-log Aug 18, 2019

Depends upon what you want to do after MBA? You got into both and school starts in August, so I don’t understand that you haven’t been able to decide by now? Do you really want to lose 2 years of salary while you study full time?

Microsoft Queasy Aug 18, 2019

Are you sure paying that much for an MBA is necessary to get into product management? I see a lot of people with no experience getting in. Maybe apply at some lower ranked firms and work your way up. Your experiment at Netflix should help you land a job in a lower rank tech company easily.

I totally agree with this. I don’t think you necessarily need the degree, depending on your job experience and education. Many PM roles require BA or BS in any sort of tech and some prior PM or PjM experience. My only full-time work experience is PjM and I’ve been able to get PM interviews.
