is it hard to make friends when starting as an industry hire SDE-1 at Amazon Seattle? Comparing myself in my current position with experienced hires in my current company, it seems way easier to click and bond during the new hire training versus joining a company mid-career what has your experience been, socializing in tech? tc: $3.50
Why have friends when you can have more TC instead
Crippling depression over crippling debt am I right?
You are making 350k as an SDE-1 ?
Making friends? Like actual ones? Hmmm. I mean as long as people are friendly and work effectively i don’t expect them to be my friend per se. People drawn towards people that has similar back grounds and situations anyways. Like a 40sth mom of 3 is unlikely to be buddies with a 20 yo new grad. But doesn’t mean they can’t work well together
Right. But imagine a starting class of 20 college graduates, fresh and excited about the start of their career, I would say they have a high chance of becoming lifelong friends if they stay in the same company and have common interests
Who needs friends?
Don't make friends at workspace, especially in Amazon😀
As an intern made a small group of friends but none of my primary friend group was from work except maybe 1 but i think u have to get lucky for that. As a full time didnt rly attend any new hire training except orientation. Overall don't really interact much or see that many ppl that id be good friends with around the office
Generally you are only allowed 1 friend per quarter at sde 1 at Amazon
