If you subsidise housing costs then you just raise the cost of housing
How about an example?
Example: https://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/2015/12/16/bah-rates/
Microsoft plan on giving loans to developers to build housing. This should actually increase affordability across the board by decreasing the cost to build housing.
It’s scam, why do not they open office in outside of downtown. Many employees stay far away to afford house.
Make it easier to build new housing and prices will drop.
From the article: "Based on the typical costs, if the full half-billion dollars were plowed directly into one project, it would only produce about 1,000 housing units." This is a nice gesture but is only going to make a small dent. It's insane how expensive if it to build units.
Scam. There’s been a 15 year “war on homelessness” with $1 billion spent by the county year after year and the problem gets worse every year. All that’s being done is giving the special interest groups a fat paycheck. Then next year when the problem still isn’t solved they’ll ask for more money
They could just pay their employees market rate instead of building affordable housing for them?

Other employers such as amazon should be doing more as most low income households are getting priced out due to high concentration of tech jobs.
