Got a misdemeanor charged for marijuana on 2017, on the job application it didn't ask anything about it(no criminal related questions), if i get the job offered, it probably would shows up on background check, would the off offer get rescind? Should I disclose it before the background check if they did not say anything?Anyone had misdemeanor charge and still get the job? Hope a HR can ans the questions.
Spend $20 and do your own background check. You will see what they will see. Simple
it will shows up for sure, i want to see if i should let them now or not, and if anyone had the misdemeanor charge and still got the job, and if they say anything after the bg check.
I disclosed a 5+ year old DWI and was still hired. I think attempting to cover it up would have negative consequences.
Did you let them know when they ask you or just volunteer disclose
I volunteered during the background check with an apologetic explanation.
you'll be fine :)
are you hr? or do you know anyone that might have similar experience
I had a marijuana arrest, didn't disclose it, and it didn't get mentioned during the background check. that was 5 years ago when marijuana wasn't nearly as accepted / legal. Also, I was just as scared as you :)
If the background check or other paperwork asks you to disclose misdemeanors, then yes do so. If it does not, then just let them discover it on their own. Failing to disclose if asked is a hard fail on background check.
Application did not ask my to disclose anything, currently scheduling for final onsite, not sure if they gonna ask before the background check or not, I dont think they ask that. Some say I should just disclose with apologetic letter, even they dont ask, since it is gonna shows up anyway
and seeing this post, someone job got rescinded since he disclosed volunteer let me super nervous https://www.teamblind.com/article/Job-offer-rescinded-V7k73MX3
Depends on your state. Do you remember your sentence? Did you get probation as part of diversion? If so the sentence or guilty or no contest plea is "suspended" pending your successful completion so in theory it shouldn't show up at any point (less arrests -which are not convictions ) and upon completion where the charges are thrown out and your conviction not part of public record.
it is convicted, i failed the diversion. so the charge is convicted and I am pretty possible it would should up, I am on probation now I would complete my probation in august, trying to push the onsite until around aug.. and hopefully they dont care, if not nothing I can do i guess, seems like most people thinks is fine other than below post, pay for my own mistake -___- hopefully one day will be legal federally https://www.teamblind.com/article/Job-offer-rescinded-V7k73MX3
Are you going to confess all your sins and flaws while youâre at it? Donât disclose. If itâs brought up, cross that bridge then.
I accepted an offer from a consulting company to test it out... see what they say, good luck to me ><
what was the outcome here
OP what is the outcome ? I also had a case which was dismissed ...I am also not sure whether to disclose it or not
Donât disclose it. All these companies have offices where marijuana is legal anyways. I wouldnât worry too much about it.
