Is it a good decision in general? (Internal transfer within facebook) I am a hybrid hw/sw engineer, the one that needs pirate x, so assuming job is high profile and deep technical, which org is better? Assume I am going to do the same type of project, just org comparison, is it a wise move? Please answer if you are working or have worked for facebook and understand my question, I thought it is obvious but if you have never worked for facebook, your answer is your opinion which is not going to help me.
Don’t move. Infra is bad. If you have infra on you resume I usually don’t hire such guys. They are mostly tweaking configs and doing ops.
The only Principal Engineer at Etsy was working on infra. I don’t see how infra work is bad. It’s highly complex.
Complex configurations yes, lol.
I’m junior, but I saw it as a position that allowed you to communicate between multiple teams, have access to upper management, and have a greater impact overall.
Big mistake. Move out of infra ASAP. If you can you must work on customer facing product, else the experience on your resume is worthless. I might be coming across as blunt but trust me you will thank me later.
What do you define as infra? I define infra as creating lambda architecture, migrating on - prem to cloud, etc
In a company making fake demo, obviously infra is not important. They don’t have or need one.
Says the low skilled infra engineer. Sorry infra technician. 😂
have you ever worked for facebook?
You should ask in Facebook lounge, sigh
There you go. Exactly what I am saying. Read my post above. Get out of there ASAP.
Why aren’t u asking this in the fb lounge?
Tc ?
