i’ve spent the last 5 years making content for various platforms, but am finding it nearly impossible to move over to a platform role. anyone else tried and had similar difficulty?
It should be very easy at the moment since all the major platforms are all trying to improve the quality of content.
I’m on the precipice of making that move right now. My best advice: apply, apply, apply, and be patient. It takes a lot of shots. And search for an in. Hell, use Rooftop Slushie to get a referral. FWIW I didn’t get calls for a very long time even with a tremendous portfolio. It really took a role matching my exact experience rather than selling transferable skills
Where are you thinking of going? It’s so hard. I have years of direct specific experience with multiple reputable brands on Facebook for example - and I cannot even get an interview
Facebook. I was in the same situation as you for the longest time, but just kept relentlessly going after open positions for like 3 years (not hearing anything back from 9/10 of them) — now I’m doing my final on-site soon after some things worked out
Just made the move myself. It took being able to display that I have extensive experience in programmatic to be able to crack it. I agree with those saying to move to the agency space first.
Where did you move to and do you have tips on what you did that worked?
Maybe go to agency.. from there, move to platforms?
