i recently got an offer from Picarro in Santa Clara. They offered TC of 144k base+ 15k Stock + 3.5k sign on with 10% variable. Is it a good offer to accept? current TC - 98k + 12% variable (chances of promotion) (Pittsburgh, PA) yoe: 8 Position: Senior Software Engineer i have two other interviews lined up and picarro has hit me up with a deadline to accept/reject the offer
Spend some time on blind and you will realize how much you should be getting. Good luck
OP: That money ain't enough to live here. You must ask for more.
+1 That TC is often made at 2yoe in Bay area
Getting super low balled
I don’t think so. Not everyone pays sky high mate!
15k stock is shit for that YOE.
on the other hand, accept the offer and apply other jobs once you land it here in bay area
Low low low
144k base for Senior in Silicon Valley with 8 YOE? I wouldn't consider this offer, even if you negotiate it will still be a low ball for Valley
Get out here with this job then go find another one in a year. Much easier to interview in the Bay Area when you live in the Bay Area.
This is the only plus side. But he can take two weeks off, set up interviews ahead of time and just leetcode his way in.
So we converge to the same answer, the only debate is what happens in the next year. I think the probability of him having a solid swe job a year from now is higher with him taking this offer, compared with your plan. Your plan obviously has more upside in that he could potentially make more over the next 12 months, but also comes with downside risk.
Way too low. Between taxes and high cost of living, you will burn your current savings if you have a family. Or you will end up renting a room with 5 other roommates.
You can use this offer to negotiate! Try hitting 250k atleast with that yoe. It’s ducking expensive living in the bay area
