Worked 1 year in a company in a very rural area where I am not happy to live in. Teammates are good, just supervisors lack of appreciation and team spirit. It is also hard to get a promotion. They started GC application 2 months back for me, and it takes ~6 more months to get an approved i140 with PD. In the meanwhile, I got an offer from Capital One in DC area. I always want to go to C1, and the location is much more lively than my current town. They do not offer GC application right away and need to wait at least after 2 positive performance evaluation, with approval by mgr and skip level mgr. My country has a 3 year backlog in green card application. I want to go to C1 badly and also want to get the PD in hand, but C1 will not wait that long. GC is very important to me. Getting a good career path is very important too. I need some help on deciding if should stay with current company where I cannot advance my career but can get a PD at least, try to jump after June next year (which is a bit hard since the company name is not sounding). Or go to C1 to advance career, if cannot get GC then jump to a company or CA area for better GC policy (which with C1 reputation should be easier than jumping from current company). It's almost certainly going to take longer than 6 months for i140 approved. Also it is recommended (not sure if required) to have worked 6 months after the i140 is approved to be able to port date.
It's not required. The priority date from an approved I-140 can be recaptured even if the I-140 was revoked. However, if an I-140 is withdrawn before the 6 month mark, it cannot be used for post 6th year H-1B extensions and various other I-140-related benefits.
Interesting til
I am on the same boat and I wouldn't take the jump for a 30k increase at a higher CoL area Also C1 might be sort of higher prestige but not by a whole lot compared to a completely faceless company. Also think of the flip side with likely higher job security, less load allowing time to improve yourself etc.
At this point of time if u wanna stick in the US for long GC is the only way u can have a career path. Else if u are open to move out and go to other countries then choose what's good for Career and definitely life.
Go get your dream job. Motivation is much more important.

I haven’t done shit today!
If it’s only 3 years backlog choose career. Maybe you can negotiate with capital one if you do well in your interviews.
