new management takes away accrued vacation

Does anybody have an idea on how to deal with the following situation? We are a Ca company. We have new investors and they are arguing that the previous vacation accrual has been calculated incorrectly and they are basicly rewritting history. There are people that had hundereds of hours of accrued vacation, now they owe the company. For years the vacation accrual did not have a cap, due to management desision to keep the production going and people could work on holidays and continue accruing. any way to rebutle with new management?

Think of quitting and get a lawyer as well.

This. Quit (because this isn't the only thing that's going to suck under the new management) AND File an employment claim (because that if you lawfully earned income)

I will say though that some states have laws where the employer paying out accrued PTO is optional. Texas, for example, is one of them.

Yes, personally that’s what I am thinking of doing, however I was hoping for some legal information on this topic.

Read the contract/whatever there is and cite parts of it to HR. Co-worker had the same issue before and he basically fought it until HR gave up and gave him what he wanted

Afaik in California once PTO is acquired it is owned by the employee and cannot be taken away. Talk to an employment lawyer before you do anything.
