Why is Pinterest spam?
Ok - hereās the non sarcastic answer. In terms of revenue they are relatively flat - compare 1H 19 with 2H 18 ; 2/3 of their active pinners are international yet they account for 10% of their revenue. The scale effect hasnāt quite worked exponentially for them yet .. driven by higher competition (Fb, Instagram ..) Also, 80% of their active users are women and that means they need to either diversify or keep driving engagement with women - driving marketing costs up. Off late, there has been a lot of spam pins and outside low quality website adding pins - From a business model standpoint they heavily rely on google for their users. They may figure these things out - but I wouldnāt bet on them. I feel Instagram/ WhatsApp.. even twitter has better chance now
