Pregnancy accommodations

Is it a lot to ask for an employer to consider moving my fiancé to a different office due to her pregnancy need? Specifically her doctor writing a note she need an able bodied care provider nearby through/beyond delivery? They have at least 6 offices within 45 minutes of where we would be living...(San Jose) My job is moving me over 800 miles away and she has day to Day needs they require assistance Afaik- pregnancy related needs should be treated as a disability request per federal law. There should be an interactive process for this accommodation to be figured out no? What if HR is refusing to participate..

Yes, the employer should do the needful

Speculation on such matters does no one any good. HR will cooperate if they know what's best for them, because juries do not look kindly upon mistreatment of pregnant women.* * Unfortunate exception of black women, who are more mistreated by medical providers and juries alike - but even then a black woman would likely win, especially depending on jurisdiction.

Fiancé is a woman of color so odds are she is getting fucked over. They are actively trying to exclude me from the process as well. We work for the same company...glad I put my 2 weeks in

Well why can’t she find an able bodied care provider nearby to her new job ? Are you the provider.? Is she considered disabled by her doctor ? If there are legit answers to those questions and there is a matching job in the new office , I imagine the law requires them to move her ... but I’m not a lawyer and you should consult one

Totally fair and what we are expecting but - should her employer not be requesting this info?

The key here is “reasonable accommodations.” Without knowing more about the situation, hard to say if this is reasonable or not. What would be their objection to her moving to one of those offices regardless of pregnancy?
