How much do they make on average and where is the blind equivalent to get this info? Went on a tinder date in NYC with some guy who is from there who kept bragging that he was director at 35 and makes a ton of money. I'm curious if it's a lot compared to what a senior/ staff/ principal engineer makes in tech.
Zaaaaap.
What’s your yoe and tc?
5yoe, 360k. And you?
Director is like staff, definitely not higher. Managing director is around principal, maybe sr staff. Director at 35 is not a loser, but not brag worthy.
This all depends on the org. Director in IB makes 750+ at least, in equity research probably around 400. If you are in trading they give away titles for free so you can have that title at 24. This is all for people who make money. If you are in “IT” or some shitty back office role a director makes little. No idea how much.
Whatever his title and regardless of how much he makes bragging about it is oh so lame...
I think he was doing it to tell me that "I can support you" kind of thing. But I found it odd without really checking my earning potential first.
Ask him next time, he would probably love to brag about it. "So, do you make like 200k?" He's love the ego boost lol.
Glassdoor says TC ~285 based on 281 reported salaries of EDs at Morgan Stanley
Yeah but we know how unreliable Glassdoor is for tech salaries
