salaries outside tech

I have always been in tech and almost everyone im close (close enough that we share salaries) is in tech. i have always wondered how much are others paid outside tech ? i know its less and i know avg us salary is 65k. But i want to know real numbers. For ex, what does optician make in bay area ? what does a retail shop manager make in seattle ? what does a typical lawyer make ? what does an insurance agent make ? how much a starbucks barista makes ? i googled but ranges are all over the place, depending upon website. anybody has real life numbers ? TC 280k

Glassdoor is pretty helpful if you want to look by company/position/location. Searching for "lawyer" can only result in a broad range.

My uncle works at a donut shop, makes $8/hour. I work in cancer treatment analysis and make $80k. My director is close to retirement and makes $200k. I work closely with medical team (that clearly lists down side effects of the drugs in technical terms for FDA approval) and they make $65k for 3-5 years experience and $45k for new grad.

It's almost never worth Googling for salary, imo. Seems like they are always way off base.

Median US household Income is $59K. That should give you an idea of what life looks like outside the tech bubble.
