Did someone explain you the Q3 role? Q3 engineers do coordination, high level test planning, manual testing etc. There is not much coding or automation unless you go out of your way to help the scrum team. There’s usually one Q3 engineer per 2-3 scrum teams.

I run a Q3 team and my team is full of engineers who write code every day.
Yeah too much negative about SDET roles
Any programming language is fine but do ask the recruiter. I am guessing you opted for the backend test and not the UI one.
