should i switch jobs?
Currently 140k TC as a SWE in research at a hedge fund. I have 2.5 YOE, I like the project I’ve been working on, and my work seems to have been well received so far. That said, there is a clear pay gap if you aren’t an “investment professional” (which im not). Im unsure if the project im on has the potential to become its own strategy, but if it did, i would see a significant pay increase. I find markets more interesting than coding for a tech company, but honestly I just want big TC.

Did you come up w/ the strategy? If yes then you are already an investment professional. Otherwise I don’t see how you can get a big pay bump by implementing someone else’s idea.
Obviously blind influenced you with those 2 letters TC. seems your heart has already left your current job and your name says it all
