I want to move to SF from Seattle, for my BF. I’m level 60 at MSFT (one level below SD2).

Can I get a SD2 role if I interview for another company outside? how do the levels work?

I was thinking of applying to Google, Fb, Lyft, Airbnb, Pinterest, Stripe, Square, Asana, Rohinhood, Rubrick. Are there other companies with great work culture and good diversity?

It doesn’t rain as much as people say it does, although it’s very overcast.

As far as I remember - July, August were awesome. Summer started in June. September to now has been rainy/ overcast, with a few nice days.

Yeah in my opinion, those are the only best. D.C. is cool too. I have a buddy who works at a startup $170k starting as a Software Engineer but he’s young. I choose East Coast because I hate driving lol. Wasted expense.

Atlanta is pretty decent too. A lot of big companies have a good presence because of the talent from Georgia Tech. Low CoL for now too!

Microsoft transfer, if possible would be one more possibility. LinkedIn is Microsoft’s subsidiary but a good choice as well. Uber, Roku, DoorDash (I think it’s local) are another. Then Netflix as well if you’re okay with the culture.

They won’t give a level or salary increase if I transfer within msft.
